Us and our farm
Hello, we're the Shannon family! We've been living on Thankerton Camp Farm, near Biggar since 1996, it's our home and where we care for and rear our animals. Our priority is to ensure that the quality of our meat is outstanding and tastes delicious every time.
'Us' consists of Michael (farmer, delivery boy, packer, salesman etc etc), Michelle (mum of 8, need I say more!), Emily (a dab hand with the vacum packer), Lucy (expert on weighing and labelling), Sophie (chief stacker and pack counter), Daisy (who has a box so she can reach up to get the packs off the scales), Matthew (farmer in training), Lily (who smiles and giggles a lot), Luke, (who everyone looks like his Dad) and the latest addition to our family baby Noah.
Having a young family ourselves, we understand the importance of not only providing healthy and nutritious food as part of a well balanced diet, but also serving flavoursome and tasty food at a reasonable price.
We're excited that our new farm shop and butchery is now open on the family farm and we hope you'll pop by soon for a pleasant and authentic shopping experience. The shop is the first phase of development at Thankerton Camp Farm, with future plans to open a permanent destination farm shop, café and children’s play areas to put us firmly on the foodie map of Scotland.
Our farming methods
We have developed a unique system of feeding our animals. They are free to roam outside all year round and graze only on fresh natural foods, 365 days of the year. We do not feed them any manufactured meal making our meat extremely pure, healthy and full of flavour.
Our animals graze on only the highest quality fresh grass and clover in summer and in winter they graze on fresh kale with hay or silage. This 100% fresh and natural diet creates the most incredible flavoured meat and increases the amount of good oils, such as Omega 3 in the meat.
As our business has grown, so has our product range. In addition to Aberdeen Angus beef and natural grass fed lamb we provide free range pork, which we get directly from a local farm in Hawick, award winning pies and savouries made freshly every day using meat from the farm, as well as our own sausages, burgers and ready to cook meals. At Christmas we produce our own Free Range Norfolk Black Christmas Turkeys at the farm.
From the farm, directly to your doorstep
We deliver directly to your door so you have complete traceability. There is no delivery charge for orders over £100.00 and just a small charge for orders between £65 and £100. We offer free delivery to everyone in the local area (ML postcode) for orders over £20.
We have built up a strong rapport with our customers over the years and we enjoy all of the feedback. Our goal is to meet and exceed our customers' expectations and we guarantee you will love your Damn Delicious meat.
